A Beautiful Day ...

At long last, the weekend is here.  I slept in this morning until 8:30, which felt glorious since I have been waking up all the past week at 4:45 am to head into work early.  It's been a busy week, hectic and lots of things going on, so I'm thankful the weekend is here for rest and relaxation and to recharge for next week.

On Monday night of this past week, Charlie seemed to have hurt his ankle, knee or hip. I can't figure out exactly where even despite giving him multiple deep tissue massages daily and coupled with the fact that he's his happy self and doesn't appear to be in pain.. except for the fact that he's limping.  Bichons do something called 'blitzing'.  It's like a random burst of energy where they run around on a rampage just having a blast.  It's one of the breeds signature "moves" if you will.  Here's a video of what I'm talking about (it's not my dogs, no):

Anyways, there was no moment where he hurt himself but he's been limping since.  I don't want to take to the Vet and don't feel the need to because I don't feel he needs steroids to heal anything, just time, massaging, confinement (crating) and he'll be just fine.  I don't want to pump his body full of unnecessary shit,  Second, I know it's not a luxating patella because he can move the leg...

A Look into what a Typical Day of Eating looks like for Me and What I do to Stay in Shape

A typical Day and My Food Intake:

Anywhere from 5:50 a.m. to 6:10 a.m. - Have half a cup of Coffee (usually the left over from the cup and a half I pour into Jeff's travel coffee mug).

I leave for work usually at 6:20 a.m. to catch the 6:32 p.m hour-long train to Union Station in Toronto and that gets me to my desk about 7:45 a.m.  (If I'm lolly-gagging (which I have been lately - lol), I leave the house at 6:45 a.m/6:50 a.m. to catch the 7:02 a.m. train, that lands me at my desk around 8:15 a.m./8:20 a.m.)

8:00 a.m. - Have a protein shake and a banana.

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Drink maybe one to two cups of coffee, along with my morning oatmeal.

(On average, after I've had my morning coffee, I won't drink anything else but water for the rest of the day, which may be anywhere from two to four litres of water)

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - This varies slightly, I'll munch closer to 11:30 if I'm going to a 12 o'clock class or closer to 12:30 p.m. if I'm going to a 1 p.m. class.  I usually eat two rice cakes, always.  Sometimes I'll squeeze in my carrots and celery.  If I don't eat the veggies then, I'll eat them as soon as I get back from the gym.

1 p.m. to 2:30 pm. - Depending on which class I've gone to, during these times I'll eat my lunch, which is a white tortilla wrap with a bit of light mayo, honey Dijon mustard, baby spinach, a slice of Swiss cheese and a home-cooked seasoned thin filet of chicken breast.. Really filling, much more so than deli meat that are loaded with sulfites and preservatives.  I also usually eat a piece of fruit, these days it's a pear and a 100g container of Activia yogurt.

Somewhere usually between 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., I'll snack on a handful of unsalted almonds and an apple.

I leave work on a good day around 3:45 p.m. but most days 3:55 p.m., which makes for me hauling ASS to the train station to catch the 4:10 p.m. train home.

My week...

So we were touched with a glimpse of Spring on Monday and Tuesday and lo and behold, most of the Eastern seaboard got dumped on Wednesday.  I'd been covering my work mate all week since she was away in Lake Placid and subsequently called in sick on Wednesday because she got a concussion doing ski jumps (*Shakes head* with no helmet) and so because I had worked through lunch on Wednesday (Note: Lindsay didn't get to go the gym on Wednesday *insert sad face here*), I decided to leave early because it was snowing like an SOB, I couldn't see much of anything outside the window, roads were terrible and already on the rail lines I was noticing several track switch problems because of the snow accumulation.  I was like F this, packed up my shit and left for the 2:30 bus home, full well knowing that it would take forever to get home but certainly better than waiting around all day and waiting for it to get worse.

Not long after I set foot outside in that mess did I slip and fall on my knee, banged it pretty good, recovered from a more bruised ego of falling on my knee and by the time I go to Union Station, I noticed that I had ripped my pants (GRR!!) and coming through said pants was blood.  And thick, yucky blood.  Ugh!  So I ended up getting on the bus and then once I sat down, unzipped my boot and revealed my bashed, gnarly looking knee.  And here is what it looked like:

As you can see above, this is Day 2.  Doesn't look nearly as bad as it feels but that's on the account that I keep peroxiding the shit out of it.  I expect a bruise to come out still but man does it hurt like a mother.  Frankly I'm surprised I didn't crack my head open because I'm such a clumsy person.

And of course, a few obligatory dog pictures.  With Jeff is Lily and Stella, our friend's Bichons that lives downstairs in our condo building.  We often look after them, kidnap or my mom takes them.

And of course, Baxter laying on his back, happy and smiling :)

So today, we have a department Pot Luck luncheon, which we usually have every few months, which is nice.  So that's two days down this week I haven't made it to the gym, but I did go Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and yesterday.  I'll be going tomorrow and possibly Sunday too, just for good measure.

My Momma is home from the Dominican.  I always miss her like crazy while she's away.  She's a bit relieved to be back as well because my Aunt got sick down there and ended up in the hospital for 2 1/2 days.  That's a whole other eye-rolling story that I don't care to journal about.

Here's to a good Friday!  TGIF!! <3 p="">

Weekend, Rants of the Moment and Pet Pictures

Ugh after working ALL weekend, he tells me he's tired and taking the day off.  Not only does he work a 4-day work week anyways, this week is shortened because of Thanksgiving yesterday and then in addition, today.  So a whopping 2 day work week.  I work ALL bloody weekend and you're tired? Puh-lease.  Give me a break.  And giving me attitude about it like it's my fault.  Yeah, you can go fuck your hat.  Next.

Next rant, then I'll shut up.  Why the fuck do people complain and complain about shit but don't take ANY steps to rectify or fix it.  Story of my fucking life at work, I think everyone has the mentality that "someone else will do" shit.  It's horse shit and I'm just really tired of people being lazy and not being proactive and passing it off to the next person.  Every work place you get lazy ass people or people that pass the buck, because it's beneath them.  Okay, I'm done and I feel better about life now. LOL

I just got back from the gym, the weight lifting hour class and I needed it.  I walked all weekend with my dog visits and I was off on Friday (which I intended on going to the gym but never made it *frowny face*), but it's just not the same as going to the gym.  I met some amazing, lovely new animals that I never had the chance to previously meet and a few of them stole my heart.  In particular, a 9 year old German Sheppard.  Poor girl's back end is failing her but she tries so, SO hard to get around and even to play with her over-sized sticks.  *smiles*  I didn't rush my visits with her, it was all on her own time, I just couldn't rush her knowing that she was struggling even though I was helping her while I was at her house for several visits a day.  Thankfully, Audi's (the dog's name) mom will be home tomorrow and I'm sure she'll be overjoyed to be reunited with her.  And vice versa.  Despite being crazy busy this long weekend, I was able to squeeze in a dinner over at my mom's house yesterday evening in between the bed time (and last) visits.  It was delish and I definitely had a food belly afterwards. LOL Man I love food! That's why I go to the gym, to eat all the yummy food this world has to offer.  Oh and not to look 500 lbs whilst doing so.  :)

So let's let the pictures speak for themselves.  Enjoy.

My first Border Terrier

I actually walked TWO Rhodesian Ridgebacks this weekend and it was awesome.  One of my fave breeds.  Both dogs were polar opposites.  One was a bit younger, still very much a puppy and prey driven.  The second one was much more calm, listened to direction, etc.  Both beautiful, handsome boys. :)

The ever so happy, Bandit

Bugsy lol

This guy, George and Chester, just above, the second Ridgeback, were a delight to care for.  Big, happy lugs :)

P.S. Blogger sucks on the best of days and fucks up the spacing... Grrr!

Sunday morning

I'm making some nut-free Zucchini Banana bread this morning and I can't wait to try some.  I slept in hardcore, sleeping on and off this morning til, GASP, 9:45.  I got up, fed the dogs and guess where they are now? Back in bed lol

Last night, Greg, Alex and Frank came over for a visit.  This is all of course after Greg got out of the hospital, having been in there for 4 days.  Very unusual.  They didn't find anything, although I think largely what's wrong with him is that he's not allergic or sensitive to foods, he's reactive to many foods.  What he needs to do is to pay more attention to what he's eating and avoid those reactive foods altogether from his diet.  But it was a nice evening, we had a late dinner and I had a drink (something I don't do very often) and then they all went home.

Today, who knows.  I have just a couple more things to grab at the grocery store but that's about it :)  A friend of mine might visit later on and Jeff will be coming home from up north later this afternoon/tonight so we'll see how the day goes.

Peace and love :)

Monday, August 8, 2011

So I had written out a blog last week sometime, only to have to come back to it numerous times over because I had gotten busy throughout the day.

Not much is new with me.  The August long weekend we didn't do too much... I know we did venture up to Orillia to visit Alex.  We brought along Bruce, Alex and Greg and had a smashing day frolicking in the pool, eating, drinking, playing with his roommate's dog, Shelby, this lovely happy go luck Golden Retriever.  The day after that we went back up to Penetenguishene and dove out by Jeff's old cottage.  Let me just say that with experience and wear, 7mm wetsuits DO get better to put on.  This time I didn't fuck around, I grabbed my suit and went right for the water.  And the gloves..this pair was MUCH better than the previous pair that was an xxs and cutting off the circulation of my hand to my arm.  Saw some crey fish, bass and perch and millions of zebra mussels everywhere.

Then, our short work week last week seemed to be going well but then towards the end just slowed right down.  By Thursday, it had felt like it was the weekend already and by Friday afternoon, man...did it just really drag on.... Oh well.

This past weekend some friends came over, Jeff B, Greg, Bruce...it was all good fun.  Didn't get up to too much really.  Sunday we decided to get up and get moving so we went for a hike in the forest, also to find some geocaches, picked up Greg and headed out for a couple of hours.  Would have liked to have taken the dogs with us but it was too humid and thankfully we didn't, they would have been black as toby's boot because it started into a downpour not long after we got there, which was just as well because it was hot and the rain was rather refreshing.

Working early all week pretty well.  Have to take the first train in in the mornings, but then I get to take the early train home.  My boss is away for the week after today.  Big boss is out until Wednesday and he's not that scary at all.  Interviews are finished on Wednesday so it should be quick days for me this week.  Tonight I'm doing laundry (exciting life people) and then walking the dogs and whatnot.  Tomorrow night I have to make a quick dinner, then I'm off to my TRX class.  Wednesday I have a therapy appointment (double yay!!), Thursday night I have another TRX training session and then Friday, well I can't complain, Friday's are always pretty good.

That's enough writing for now folks, have a good one! xo

I actually can't wait til the weekend.  Saturday morning we're going up to Alex's again for a day at the pool.  Pick up some drinks, food, the good stuff and hang there all day and try to get my lily white ass some colour.  We're taking up our scuba gear and getting tanks for the day so we can fart around in the pool that day too, which reminds me of the weights.  I think they were left in the trunk in a backpack to dry.

I had a fabulous Friday out with Jeff, we went to the All About Pet Show, saw some awesome dogs (Harlequin Danes, Aussie Sheppards, Duck Tolling Dogs, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Goldens), some cats, birds and a few reptiles.  Got a few good deals there and I was smiling the entire time I was there.  After that we went downtown, walking around and basically wasting time until our reservation at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.  Holy mother of god this steak was to die for.  Jeff and I split a porterhouse for 2 and broccoli.  Good thing we didn't order a baked potato or anything because that was just right, otherwise we would have had to roll ourselves down the street lol.

Following that, we went to Starbucks and saw Arlene Dickinson and Jim Treliving on John Street, I guess they had just filmed an episode of the Dragon's Den.  We then waited for Bruce and his mom to come down and then off we went to the Jays game.  By far one of the better games we've seen in a long time.

Saturday I didn't get up to much, good thing I decided to get groceries out of the way because it turns out that nothing was open yesterday!  Way to pay attention Lindsay!

We took Brian out for dinner on Saturday night and it was very nice in deed.  Oliver's been good and I finally heard from Mom by email so she's a bit more at ease knowing that Oliver's okay.

I started picking up sunscreen this morning, for our trip.  SPF 60! lol.  I can't burn the first few days otherwise I'll be a shivering hot mess in the water and that won't be good.

Anyways that's about it for now yo ;)

Woops, forgot about this 30-day thingy already.  Got Friday.  So I guess I'll do Day 2, 3 and 4 now.

Dad 2 - Favorite movie(s) - That's a hard one, I have a few.  Fear, Blow, Collateral, Shooter, It's All Gone Pete Tong, Taken, Rounders, Gia, Crazy Beautiful, Law Abiding Citizen, Weekend at Bernies, etc.

Day 3 — I don't just have one.  I like Intervention, HIMYM, Two and a Half Men, House, Amazing Race, CSI (all 3), Biggest Loser, Teen Mom, Real World, Jersey Shore, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, The Apprentice, Off the Map, Blue Bloods, Kendra, Kardashians. Yeah, I love my PVR :)

Day 4 — A favourite book - Anything by Stuart Woods, Dan Brown, John Grisham, Jodi Picoult and Alice Sebold.

I had a quiet weekend at home with the dogs, Jeff went up north with his brother and Dad to do the dog sled race.  He had fun, a lot of standing around though.  It was *almost* too quiet without Jeff at home.  Friday night I cleaned and watched the boob tube.  Saturday morning I got up,  tried to procure some UFC tickets to no avail, then went to my aerial class, which was fantastic.  Then went home, had something to eat, had a nap and then Tera came over with some wine for the evening.  Sunday morning, slept in with the boys.  Got up, showered, did two loads of laundry and had a bagel before Mom came over to get me with her 3 dogs and we all went to the dog park.  Dina met us there with Lily so it was a Bichon day at the dog park yesterday. :)  Went home, dogs were totally tuckered, Dina was going to get her car washed so she offered to take me grocery shopping, which I did while she was doing the Jeep. Went back home and had Nancy waiting for me so we went upstairs, had some coffee, she had tea, chatted quite a bit.  Then I made dinner as Jeff was on his way home and then he got home around 7:30.  Did another 2 loads of laundry of stinky snowmobiling smelling clothes and Bruce also swung by for a bit.  All in all, a quiet fairly uneventful weekend but had a good time with mom.  Sometimes it's nice to have the peace and quiet and then you can reflect back and learn to appreciate a person a bit more than you did previously.

Was just about to fall asleep last night when Jeff said, "Oh shit! I forgot something, can you check my closet?" forgetting that he had me turn around as he came in the door last night.  He had put a bouquet of flowers, chocolate, card and a dog magazine in a gift back and stuck them between his shirts in the closet that were hanging up.  How sweet!! :)  Good thing, we would've woken up this morning to dead flowers.  Sweet eh? Then again, Jeff can be the sweetest boy :)  This is one reason why I love him so.  <3

Happy Valentines Day  :)

So what exactly have I been up to during all this time.....

I've done a second interview at another prospective employer and I'm hoping to hear something early next week.  Had a really good feeling about this from the get-go and the second interview went smashing.  I was on a high coming out of that meeting.  It was unreal.

I took today off to make for an extra long May 2-4 weekend.  Consequently, no camping this weekend.  Jeff's parents are still away in the States so they couldn't watch J's kids in order for us to go camping for the weekend.  Plus, May 2-4 weather is always, always dicey.  Sure, it can be nice and dandy down here but factor in we're traveling 4  hours north of here...yeah you can get every weather combination.  For instance, last year we had rain, sun, wind, rain, freezing race, hail, sleet and snow and temperatures varying by 30 degrees from the peak of the day to at night.  Last year, we bailed on the second last day....We tried to tough it out but eventually left at sundown, or just beforehand.

Alex came down last night and Jeff and him went geocaching for a few hours today while I steam cleaned.  Charlie, ever so helpful that he is, was getting in my way whereas Baxter found the bedroom and went and had a nap on my pillow.  Speaking of the pups, Sir Charles turns a whopping 3 on Sunday!! My how time flies, so many precious, happy moments with my hamburger.

Urgh I went and picked up Chinese when the boys got back around 4...now I feel like shit.  Ha, serves me right I guess.

Going to read I think, so tah-tah. :)
