My week...

So we were touched with a glimpse of Spring on Monday and Tuesday and lo and behold, most of the Eastern seaboard got dumped on Wednesday.  I'd been covering my work mate all week since she was away in Lake Placid and subsequently called in sick on Wednesday because she got a concussion doing ski jumps (*Shakes head* with no helmet) and so because I had worked through lunch on Wednesday (Note: Lindsay didn't get to go the gym on Wednesday *insert sad face here*), I decided to leave early because it was snowing like an SOB, I couldn't see much of anything outside the window, roads were terrible and already on the rail lines I was noticing several track switch problems because of the snow accumulation.  I was like F this, packed up my shit and left for the 2:30 bus home, full well knowing that it would take forever to get home but certainly better than waiting around all day and waiting for it to get worse.

Not long after I set foot outside in that mess did I slip and fall on my knee, banged it pretty good, recovered from a more bruised ego of falling on my knee and by the time I go to Union Station, I noticed that I had ripped my pants (GRR!!) and coming through said pants was blood.  And thick, yucky blood.  Ugh!  So I ended up getting on the bus and then once I sat down, unzipped my boot and revealed my bashed, gnarly looking knee.  And here is what it looked like:

As you can see above, this is Day 2.  Doesn't look nearly as bad as it feels but that's on the account that I keep peroxiding the shit out of it.  I expect a bruise to come out still but man does it hurt like a mother.  Frankly I'm surprised I didn't crack my head open because I'm such a clumsy person.

And of course, a few obligatory dog pictures.  With Jeff is Lily and Stella, our friend's Bichons that lives downstairs in our condo building.  We often look after them, kidnap or my mom takes them.

And of course, Baxter laying on his back, happy and smiling :)

So today, we have a department Pot Luck luncheon, which we usually have every few months, which is nice.  So that's two days down this week I haven't made it to the gym, but I did go Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and yesterday.  I'll be going tomorrow and possibly Sunday too, just for good measure.

My Momma is home from the Dominican.  I always miss her like crazy while she's away.  She's a bit relieved to be back as well because my Aunt got sick down there and ended up in the hospital for 2 1/2 days.  That's a whole other eye-rolling story that I don't care to journal about.

Here's to a good Friday!  TGIF!! <3 p="">

Christmas 2013 and Week Off..

I literally cannot believe it's been SIX days SINCE Christmas 2013 already.  Today is my first day back to work in over a week.  Everyone booked the day today except three of us in my office branch.  I didn't mind because the day before a statutory holiday, we normally get told we can go home early and such is the case this year, as my boss's boss told me this morning we could leave at Noon.  Perfect.  I was going to go to the gym to lift for Noon for an hour, so instead I'll just come back and change before heading home.  I have to pick up my winter jacket at the tailor's because I had to get the zipper replaced.  Sometime between Christmas and the next couple of days, my jacket must have snagged on something and ripped two teeth out, along with the zipper and I had to get it replaced.  It was either that or spending at least $200-$300 on a new jacket, when I loved mine still and it was in perfect condition.  Thankfully it was able to be fixed because I was hoping to at the very least get another winter, if not two left of this jacket.

This evening, New Years Eve, I think it's a bit overrated.  We were going to come back downtown (coincidentally, right beside my office tower) for a celebration at Nathan Phillip's Square but frankly it's too flippin cold.  And we don't feel like getting caught up in a crowd and huddling for warmth until midnight just to see the clock ring in.  I can do that from my living room couch.  I suggested we bundle up and take the kids for a midnight stroll OR alternatively, we go snowshoeing at midnight.  Should be alright though, I'm not big into drinking so it's pretty insignificant for me, well both of us really.

Christmas was a blur but it was a good one nevertheless.  We did Christmas between Jeff and I a bit early this year.  I bought him an IDPA membership for 2014 and a Citizen Eco-Drive watch that he'd been eye-balling for a long time.  He bought me a Citizen Eco-Drive watch as well (it's gorgeous btw, see pic!), a gift certificate to Lululemon, in which I bought a pair of the lined casual pants in a deep plum colour, identical to my black pair but these puppies were lined.  He also got me lifting gloves, a day planner and a calendar, and two recipe books from my fave restaurant, Fresh.  Jeff spoils me rotten.  And we can never wait until Christmas to spoil eachother. LOL.  OH well, no one can dictate when we can and can't celebrate on our own together.  It's just nice and intimate just the two of us with the boys.  The boys opened their prezzies and got new collars and two stuffies, which as I type this, are destroyed a whole five days later lol.  This year I received sweaters, more sweaters (hey, just what I need since I'm always cold), jewelry, gift cards, pyjama's, an e-reader (!!), which I'm surprisingly liking a lot.  I've been reading a lot lately so it's perfect.

Christmas morning, we went to my mom's house, had breakfast and opened presents with her.  We left our dogs with her and my step-dad so we didn't have to worry about them up north.  We headed up north later on in the afternoon and stayed until Friday late in the afternoon, to which we then made our way back homebound.  Picked up the kids later on that evening, reaffirmed that they missed us and love us still.  Saturday we did some errands and Sunday, Jeff took a buddy to a hockey game.  Here are some pictures of the last week or so.... :)

And since I forgot to add it above, here's the watch. :)
All in all, a great week off was had and another Christmas has come and gone and a new year is upon us.  Have a safe and happy new years everyone!  All my best wishes for 2014.  xox

My weekend up north (tons of pics!)

To recap the weekend, I booked Friday off from work weeks ago when Jeff asked me if I wanted to come up to his parents house the weekend of the shooting competition but his brother this time was going to bring his sorta-kinda-not really girlfriend or lady friend.  We were going to leave on Thursday night, having sorta packed on Wednesday night and then the last of it on Thursday after we got home from work.  But the night flew by and by the time we were in the car and ready to go, the weather took a turn and it was nasty out.  So both Jeff and I said at the same time practically, not even 10 minutes after leaving, that we should turn around and head out early in the morning.  So we did just that.  Friday morning came along, got up, had breakfast and left around 10 ish or so.  Loaded up the car with a few things, the dogs, grabbed coffee and off we were.

The night before - they were ready to go but the weather wasn't co-operating.

My co-pilot, Charlie.

The kids, in the backseat just waiting to get up north to the fresh air.

Below are pictures taken just before arriving at the house.  Love all the pretty fall colours, although up here, many of the leaves have already fallen and many trees are pretty barren.

And then it began lightly snowing on Friday night... The boys were excited about this.  I was not.  Lol I hate the cold, FYI
We discovered somewhere along the way that Jeff's brother's kinda-sorta-not really gf wasn't coming along, so it was just Jeff, his brother and I (and the dogs for the weekend, which was fine but man, Jeff's brother left everything til the last minute when everything had been planned weeks ago, but I digress. Whatever.).  So during the days, I would be by myself, which was fine.  The dogs would occupy my time, I could take them outside off-leash, or on walks, I could cook dinner or rather check on the slow-cook ribs and chicken in the oven that was in for 8 hours (!!).  But the way the weather turned out and no RSVP list for the gun club meant that no one showed up, so the boys came home relatively early.  Had a really yummy dinner and enjoyed the evening with the guys.  Sunday's match was cancelled but Jeff and his brother wanted to go to the club in case someone showed up that hadn't received the email so they did just that and left around 8 am.  I cleaned up the rest of the day, watched tv and packed up awaiting their arrival back in the afternoon to head back home.  And from here, I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Saturday morning, early.
Hmmm. How'd we get up on the table, guys?  I swear these dogs are part cat.

Curled up in a ball, Baxter :)

Where's Charlie!?! LOL Poor fella is just tanked

Can't you just tell how exhausted this fella is just looking at his sweet face?  So sweet :)

Sunday
Failing to get a picture of the both of us so the face is a face is disdain and disappointment lol
Uh oh, there goes a teddy. LOL

The End.  We went home and all's well.  It's been a great week thus far.  I can't believe that in 12 days I'm going to be 30 years old *AHHHHHHH*
