A Beautiful Day ...

At long last, the weekend is here.  I slept in this morning until 8:30, which felt glorious since I have been waking up all the past week at 4:45 am to head into work early.  It's been a busy week, hectic and lots of things going on, so I'm thankful the weekend is here for rest and relaxation and to recharge for next week.

On Monday night of this past week, Charlie seemed to have hurt his ankle, knee or hip. I can't figure out exactly where even despite giving him multiple deep tissue massages daily and coupled with the fact that he's his happy self and doesn't appear to be in pain.. except for the fact that he's limping.  Bichons do something called 'blitzing'.  It's like a random burst of energy where they run around on a rampage just having a blast.  It's one of the breeds signature "moves" if you will.  Here's a video of what I'm talking about (it's not my dogs, no):

Anyways, there was no moment where he hurt himself but he's been limping since.  I don't want to take to the Vet and don't feel the need to because I don't feel he needs steroids to heal anything, just time, massaging, confinement (crating) and he'll be just fine.  I don't want to pump his body full of unnecessary shit,  Second, I know it's not a luxating patella because he can move the leg...

A hodge podge of shit for a Friday/Saturday

So naturally I began writing this yesterday and now Saturday is upon us.  I came home from work last night and packed up some things to go to my mom's for the weekend with the dogs, too, of course.  Jeff wanted me to have my mom close by if I had a bad allergic reaction and needed to get to the hospital.  So we went over around 9:30 last night and from the amount of shit I'm bringing, it looks like I'm staying for a month.  LOL

I was abandoned in bed last night.  Mom and I finally went to bed around 2 and it was so funny, we were all having conversations about the dogs and who was going to settle where.  Everyone left me for Mom and my step-dad.  LOL  Mom brought in Baxter because he was moving too much but he left at some point through the night.  I had a night wake up call this morning though. LOL

I'm just about to head out to the gym with my mom.  Afterwards, I'm going to head up to see my friend and her fiance at his farm.  Should be a good day.  AND I'm taking the DSLR today and not whipping out my iPhone.  Have a great Saturday :)

Heard this girl belt out Les Miserables song and her voice is like that of an angel...

The last 6 or 7 days...

So the last week has just been a shit show.  Up, down, around and back.  So I guess I last spoke about tapering off the devil aka Effexor or Venaflaxine.

150mg was the original dose, taper down to 75mg for the first seven days, day one being Thursday, March 27.  Last Tuesday and Wednesday were the last of my self imposed 10 day taper off from the 14 day original timeline I was given by my doctor because the withdrawls could be as bad as initially getting on the drug.  So this would make me at 37.5 mg for the last 5 days or according to what she wanted, but I wanted no part of, was the last 7.

Immediately when the tapering down began, my face started to look better, my legs were finally starting to heal after 5 full months, the hives were still present but not quite as bad and less swollen.  While the hives were lessening and not nearly as swollen, I would still get them all the time, but interestingly my face that once made me look like a fucking junkie was starting to clear up and heal, as with the state of the sores on my shins.  Victory.  And my stupid doctor didn't/doesn't think it was medication induced.  I call(ed) bullshit all along.  Everything began when I started that shit in November and interesting tapering off, it was lessening.  So I think with regards to the hives, my body was still producing them because likely, what I can only assume, my organs, primarily the first point of absorption, the liver and also likely my kidney and gall bladder, were screaming wondering what the fuck was going on chemically in my body, but not so much so that it was getting worse but rather easing off.  Or so I had thought...

I woke up at 2 am Thursday, after waking up every 10 minutes and when I finally got out of bed, it felt like it should have been morning.  So I got up and went to the bathroom and you would not believe what looked back at me in the mirror.  My entire left side of my face was swollen, my right eyelid, full body hives, crawling up my neck into my scalp. So I was awake for the day drinking coffee and Benadryl and icing my face. Called in that mornin (I had kept it booked off bc I was originally supposed to see my dr but saw her the previous thurs and I just kept the day off bc I had a dentist appt, dog groomers, I just made a day of appointments) and my doctors office told me she had no time to see me but come in to see the nurse on staff. I said listen this isn't a joke any longer my health is rapidly declining, sure the hives and shit were decreasing but the swelling was ramping up (I think my body was screaming in response to why I was getting a lower dose now and was trying to combat fighting that withdrawl) and I told them my quality of life is at stake here. It's one thing to look like a junkie with sores on my face and having hives 24/7 but it's a whole different ball game when I'm waking up fucking disfigured.

So I went in and I broke down. Risks were far far outweighing the benefits and I said I'm done. Done with everything. This whole shit show has really left me with a sour taste in my mouth about the medical profession. Too easily do they dole out scripts but fuck, GPs know a broad area of practice. They don't know pharmacology or adverse reactions to shit. I was  the one educating them on that. So I told my doc I refuse to wait to see my allergist in Newmarket only to be told that it wasn't food related and then i would have to get another  appt with my GP, get the referal I so badly wanted and needed for the drug safety/allergy clinic at Sunnybrook hospital. I don't have time to fuck around. What if I have another episode, next time i might be sofuckkng lucky, you know?!? I need to know whatever component in this shit I'm affected by so in the future, I'm never ever given this shit again.

I'm so upset by everything and why it took me to begging them to take me serious. I've taken at least 50 pics and the writing is on the wall. It's like, "help me!!!"

So I called Sunnybrook Hospital's Drug Reaction Clinic (one of the best in the country I'm told) yesterday and they got my referral last thurs presumeanly faxed in after i left my doctors office and they're scheduling for end Of July so I won't likely get in until September but at least my foot is in the door.  It's amazing that once I put my foot down at told my GP that I wasn't leaving without a referral to where I wanted, it was faxed the same day..  The same can't be said for the referral she was sending in to see a regular Joe Blow allergist, which took 6 days.

Hours later after the initial flare up.........

Weekend pics and the fun that was had... OooOooHhh... Not that exciting, trust me..Lol

This past weekend was another nice and relaxing one.  Jeff went up north late on Thursday night I guess it was, for the weekend to participate in another tournament (they're monthly).  Friday I had work and a pot luck at lunch with my department, which was really nice.  We try and have those every few months and it's just nice to be able to relax, chat and not necessarily about work shit.  Friday afternoon was spent feeling full and uncomfortable (lol) and then I went home for the evening and had a friend come over and visit for a bit.  God my memory is getting foggy at the moment, it feels like a century has passed since last week.
Saturday morning, mom and I made plans to go to the gym and I did a Bodypump class for an hour, while she did her own thing, had a shower and then afterwards, we went back to my place and grabbed the boys and my lunch (leftover stirfry and couscous from the night before) and off we went to my mom's house for the afternoon.  We went grocery shopping, the boys played with mom's dogs, mom and I watched the boob tube and I also did some laundry (oh so much fun, don't you agree? lol).  Went back home around 7 ish and then went down around 8:30/9 to Dina's for some Chinese food.  After we ate, we went back upstairs to Jeff and I's and we watched Old Boy.  I loved the movie so I made Dina watch it as well.
Sunday morning, got up and got ready for the gym, had a shower afterwards then mom and I went to the mall so that I could make my pants that I busted up the previous Wednesday from falling into shorts.  We went into a couple of stores and an hour later, Mom had bought me 3 dresses (one of which I probably would not have picked let alone try on, but glad I did), a flowy top and two tank tops.  Mom's are AWESOME!!  After that, I went home and cleaned some, vegged some with the dogs and Jeff got back home around 7 p.m. just in time for dinner.

This week has been busy.  Yesterday I was supposed to leave early from work but as it happened, we both ended up taking the day off because of some bad news about his mom we got on Monday night.  Yesterday was spent figuring out logistics of his mom and the hospital and getting our car into the shop earlier than we had planned (Friday was the day it was going to go in) but given her state, we wanted the car to be safe... so there went nearly $1,700.  *faints and has heart attack*

More later.....
