I starting to finally feel a bit better today.  I don't have aches and pains from the flu.  I am getting a few hot flashes still but nothing like yesterday.  Speaking of yesterday, my trip home early from work was eventful.  Or not.  So I haven't been eating much this week as I don't have taste-buds and I just don't have an appetite from the flu.  So Wednesday I ate maybe half of a banana, half of my oatmeal and an apple.  That was good enough for me.  Yesterday though, I guess at the peak of my flu-bug, I guess my stomach was just uber sensitive and I ate half of my oatmeal, half of a banana (a joke, really) and my apple.  Well I should have been smart and decided to stray from acidity but I didn't.  So I left work early, same as I did on Wednesday.  I was feeling a bit nauseous in the morning, with waves of sweating but then I got on the bus (since the train schedule for where I live doesn't start the going-home schedule until 3:40 pm) and I think it was the vibration of the bus and my hot flashes that just sent me overboard.  I could feel myself getting hot and I took my scarf off and I started to gag.  Tried riding it out but it was not passing so I began to look for something to puke into.  Greeeeeeaaaaaattttt.  I hate people knowing that I'm physically getting sick or if you hear me.  I don't like or want anyone comforting me or rubbing my damn back when I'm heaving my cookies.  I feel like when you're throwing up, you're at one of your most vulnerable places.  And no one needs to see that shit.  And so, I've mastered the art of when I do have to vomit, I can do it fairly quietly.  LOL.  I should put that on my list of skills.   I didn't have anything to puke into and so I basically bunched my scarf and chuffed into that.  SO. HOT.  Thank GOD the bus wasn't wall to wall with passengers because no one noticed.  And I wasn't about to empty my bag and puke into that and then have to carry everything piece meal from my bag off the bus.  After the fact, I discovered that I had some dog poop bags in my jacket pocket, but the damage was done.  I felt glorious afterwards, though. :)

So I spent the rest of my night just resting and my mom came over for a visit but kept her distance.  This morning I feel a lot better, not 100% but definitely getting there.

Really looking forward to meeting some new clients this weekend, meeting some new babies, seeing some old, familiar faces.  I am most excited for this gal:

I'll be too busy to post anything this weekend, I'm sure of it, but I'll be posting pictures from the weekend likely on Monday or Tuesday.

Have a great weekend everyone!! xo

I hate feeling weak. And sick. The flu sucks.  Fortunately for me, I'm pretty healthy so the few times I do get sick, I don't seem to get as sick as what some do.  Like Jeff.. Poor guy is on day 4 of being off work and he's truly a sad sight.  He is getting better but the waves of hot and cold flashes and the look of surrender and feeling defeated is just sad.  Poor guy is still sweating it out.  Thankfully he has until Monday now to get better before he goes back to work.  Yesterday I left an hour early and went home and literally did not move from the couch.  Okay maybe a little bit here and there, but it was usually to pick up Charlie or patting the couch for Baxter to come snuggle.  They're such great company when you're not feeling well, but then again they like snuggling any way they can get it.  At least today I'm no worse than yesterday, so I think that's a good sign.  *crosses fingers*

A positive of this week:  I'm pet sitting this weekend and in particular, I get to meet and care for a Hairless Sphynx cat named Callie.  I just love all the folds and wrinkles they have, I can't wait to meet her.

How did we get to Wednesday already?  Oh that's right, it's called being off work for two days with a sick husband (sickest I've ever seen him) and then I woke up this morning sick.  But I'm at work.  And freezing.  Oh good times.

I've not been to the gym at all this week and I've zero appetite today.  Jeff is on day 3 of being at home and off work...Poor guy.  He can't catch a break.  In December he caught a good bout of the flu.  Then end of December, he rolled his ankle and caused a bad sprain.  Then now he's got a lung infection, bronchitis and the flu to boot.  I just feel so bad, he's just so weak and miserable.

Last weekend was great though.  I did both my non-restricted (100% on practical, 94% on written)and restricted (98% on practical, 96% on written) firearms course and of course it was a long weekend.  Saturday was from 8 am to about 6:30 pm and Sunday was from 8:30 to 4:30.  At least I had some company in a familiar face (Tara's husband), otherwise I'm sure I would've been bored to tears.  I had read each book beforehand so a lot of it was refreshing my memory.  I was so worried I'd bomb the tests just because of my nerves but I'm glad I didn't; I did much better than I anticipated.  So that's finally out of the way.  Now we wait for bureaucracy at its finest and I wait for paperwork from the Government, then send an application back to them, with copies of my tests, MORE money and away we go.  :)

And so now it's Wednesday and I'm feeling quite like shite.  And I work this weekend.  I have currently 34 visits.  I hope this passes and I don't get full blown sick.

Hope you all are well xoxo

Friday.. Where the hell have you been all my life?!

In the spirit of it being Friday and taking a lead from Krysten at Why Girls Are Weird and her "10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week", I think I'll follow suit and play that game.

Ten Things that Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Going to see Unbroken with my Mom and Jeff Tuesday night;
2. Having sore muscles.  It means I'm doing something right and not plateau-ing all the time.
3. To have a full fridge of food.  Some people aren't blessed to have a full fridge or food on the table.
4. Baxter's 7th Birthday yesterday.
5. I love having 5 months of the year where my two boys, Charlie and Baxter, are the same age (born 7 months apart from each other, yet still sharing the same blood (they both have the same momma and dad).
6. Planning a little overnight getaway to Niagara Falls/Buffalo in March to celebrate the upcoming wedding of a friend.
7. Seeing the schedule for the 2015 Yoga Conference and happy that the lovely and inspiring Seane Corn will be there this year (she was in South American last year for an Off the Mat endeavour but will be back again this year). Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! :)
8. My evening with Jeff last night. *smiles*
9. Knowing that I get to have dinner with my friend Tara tomorrow night after day 1 of 2 of the restricted/unrestricted gun course her hubby and I are taking together (Jeff and Tara are both licensed).
10. TGIF mother*ckers!!

I just got back from the gym and my legs are sooooooore! I was off on Monday and therefore didn't make it to the gym.  Tuesday I wasn't able to get to my usual BP class so I did legs and abs on my own.  Wednesday and Thursday I did BP.  So there goes to the legs.  And today I did a spin class with Leanne, figuring that I'd spin my legs out a bit and loosen them up.  Uhmmm no.  Not at all.  So I'm betting on waddling tomorrow.
--------

Work continues to be busy as shit.  Which, I suppose, is good in theory and sure the days fly by but sometimes I just have so much to do and don't know where to begin.

--------

Baxter's 7th (!!!) birthday was yesterday and so after work, we went to Global and got the boy a stuffed polar bear (which, might I add, lasted all of 5 minutes tops before he decided to bust it open and get the squeaker out.  LOL.  We got him some yummy treats, bully sticks to chew on and puppy ice cream for both him and Charles.  The second we got home, they were on us because of the yummy bag we had in hand and they stared up at the counter until they had their dinner and THEN I gave them their yummies.

Charlie is still limping a little bit.  I feel like a bad pet parent but I just don't feel he's in pain nor do I feel like spending at least $200 alone for an xray that will only show breaks and shadows that indicate arthritis.  I don't believe it's a luxating patella because he puts weight on his leg, and he's not in any pain.  Not once had he cried out or whimpered and he can also bend his leg, something that luxating patella's won't allow.  Plus, with luxating patellas, they're most often detected earlier on, they don't usually just develop just like that.  So for now, I've been trying to keep him quiet, alternating with confining him (which of course he hates) and he's now getting glucosamine twice daily, which can't hurt him and is good for his joints.  The thing that's sad though is that he just doesn't know how to slow down; he still thinks he's a young lad but he's getting up there.  Depressing but that's reality, right?  So we'll see how things progress with him......

Isn't this pretty?  I can't recall the artist but I believe I saw this on The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Facebook page and I loved it.
Pretty much.... lol

 Enjoy your weekend folks! xo

A Beautiful Day ...

At long last, the weekend is here.  I slept in this morning until 8:30, which felt glorious since I have been waking up all the past week at 4:45 am to head into work early.  It's been a busy week, hectic and lots of things going on, so I'm thankful the weekend is here for rest and relaxation and to recharge for next week.

On Monday night of this past week, Charlie seemed to have hurt his ankle, knee or hip. I can't figure out exactly where even despite giving him multiple deep tissue massages daily and coupled with the fact that he's his happy self and doesn't appear to be in pain.. except for the fact that he's limping.  Bichons do something called 'blitzing'.  It's like a random burst of energy where they run around on a rampage just having a blast.  It's one of the breeds signature "moves" if you will.  Here's a video of what I'm talking about (it's not my dogs, no):

Anyways, there was no moment where he hurt himself but he's been limping since.  I don't want to take to the Vet and don't feel the need to because I don't feel he needs steroids to heal anything, just time, massaging, confinement (crating) and he'll be just fine.  I don't want to pump his body full of unnecessary shit,  Second, I know it's not a luxating patella because he can move the leg...

Picture Post!

Momma's handsome boys, Baxter (left) and Charlie, snuggling with Daddy on the right.

Anddddddddd......now for my pet sitting pictures from this past weekend.

Mr. Toby.  An elderly insulin patient and such a good chap this boy is.

Insert random selfie shots... LOL.....This is the new Lululemon outfit..... Too dark but whatever. The pants are the laser-cut crops I bought last week that I put on the blog.

Luca, a beautiful blue/brindle Cane Corso.  I just adore this big baby.  Man is he ever strong though.  My boss and I both agree that we always feel safe when we have Luca.

Here, he's coming in for a sloppy kiss lol....

Now here's an unusual and rare cat called the Turkish Van... His name is Midas and is he ever an affectionate, chatty cat-in-a-dog suit kitty.

A bit of history on the breed (taken from Wikipedia:
The Turkish Van is a semi-long-haired breed of domestic cat, which was developed in the United Kingdom from a selection of cats obtained from various cities of modern Turkey, especially Turkish Kurdistan .[1]:112 The breed is rare,[2] and is distinguished by the van pattern (named for the breed), where the colour is restricted to the head and the tail, and the rest of the cat is white;[2] this is due to the expression of the piebald white spotting gene, a type of partial leucism.[3]:148 A Turkish Van may have blue or amber eyes, or be odd-eyed (having one eye of each colour). The breed has been claimed to be descended from the landrace of usually all-white Van cats (Turkish: Van kedisi), mostly found near Lake Van,[2] though one of the two original breeders' own writings indicate clearly that none of the breed's foundation cats came from the Van area.[1]:114[4]
Then called the Turkish Cat, the breed was first recognised as such by a breeder/fancier organisation, the UK-based Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), in 1969.[1]:113 It was later renamed "Turkish Van" to better distinguish it from the Turkish Angora breed. The term "Turkish Vankedisi" is used by some organisations as a name for all-white specimens of the formal Turkish Van breed,[5] nomenclature easily confused with the Van kedisi landrace cats, which are also often all-white.

Miss Zoe... What a sweet and gentle soul.

Miss Abby.  She is a Goldendoodle and she lives with Maggie, a mini-labradoodle and a scruff of a looking dog, aptly named Scruffy.  Abby was such a ham, glued to my leg the entire time I was at her home.

Even though it looks like the same dog, this is Nellie.  Such a ham-bone this girl.  All she wants to do is for you to take her outside so she can roll in the grass (or snow, whichever) and just enjoy life and sniff the fresh air.

This is one of Nellie's housemates.  He's ALWAYS in his basket in a sunbeam every time that I'm there.

Here's Scruffy.  And Miss Abby.

The pic on the right, the smaller of the two black dogs, THAT'S Scruffy.  :)  And what was fun about this household was that it was cold and miserable out but they all loved going outside and then coming back in and getting dried off and being silly.

Don't I look less than thrilled, all cold-looking and shit? LOL

It's a Monday and I am not a Work. SCORE!

I sit here from my comfy, warm living room on this freezing-ass day.  You see, Winter is now finally upon.  Enough joking around, he's here to stay now.  Oh and some other snazzy news: a garbage dump truck rear-ended our parked, unoccupied vehicle on the morning of Friday, January 2nd.  I was just about to leave with my mom to take a bunch of donations to the animal shelter, when we drove past the car and at a quick glance something didn't quite look right.  I asked her to loop around and sure enough, the god damn bumper was just hanging off the bloody car!! It was shocking!!  I didn't see it initially but there was a note left on the windshield with a supervisor's name, number, company name and a note to call them about my bumper.  It was a huge inconvenience but by 4 pm on Friday, we had our car in at the repair shop and had a rental and everything is covered until our car is ready for pick up.  We're extremely lucky they left a note, it would have been doubly shitty if it was a hit and run.

This past weekend I worked doing my dog visits/pet sitting.  I'll post pictures of that later or tomorrow.  For now, I'm going to relish in my day off before it slips from my fingers.....
